The ongoing industrial transformation, as reflected in Industry 5.0, is increasingly driven by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and the growing hyperconnectivity of socio-technical systems, which highlights the importance of collaborative networks. Furthermore, AI is shifting from a tool-oriented perspective towards the notion of AI as a teammate, while the collaborative networks are evolving into hybrid human-AI collaborative networks. This paper explores the convergence of these two trends, identifying key research directions, some gaps, and open challenges. It further presents illustrative case studies from industrial contexts. It, thus, aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the emerging hybrid collaborative networks in industry and of the need for adopting a multidisciplinary approach.
