A class of new distillation composition control con figurations, modified ratio control configurations, are proposed in this paper. These modified ratio control configurations are obtained by augmenting standard ratiocontrol configurations with some design parameters. By properly selecting these design parameters, disturbance sensitivities and control loop interactions can be reduced. Methods for selecting these design parameters are described in this paper. The proposed approach has been tested in a methonal-water separation column and nonlinear simulation results demonstrate the superiorities of these modified ratio control configurations.
