A Federated Multi-Agent Infrastructure for Concurrent Engineering (CIM-FACE)

António Luis Osório, Luis Manuel Camarinba-Matos
Abstract

A federated architecture for Concurrent Engineering infrasbucture is presented in which special emphasis is put on the aspects of enterprise modelling and control knowledge to support the co-ordination of teams of experts. The aspects of migration from legacy systems are also a major design constraint. The implemented prototype combines information integration, migration aspects and cooperation support functionalities. This paper addresses mainly the business plan interpreter and its multilevel supervision knowledge. Open questions and directions for further research in the context of networks of enterprises (extended or virtual enterprise) are summarised.
